Delay in the homologation of Flybaboo’s own airplane - 15/04/2004
Geneva, 7th of April 2004
The young airline company Flybaboo, which flies to Lugano and Venice since the 3rd of November 2003, will soon be obtaining its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Swiss authorities.
The procedure is suffering from a small delay. This is due to the fact that the airplane of the company, a Canadian Bombardier Dash 8-300, has never been certified on Swiss ground before.
Initially expected for the end of March, the authorization will now be obtained by the end of April.
In order to continue serving its customers, Flybaboo will be temporarily replacing its Dash 8-300 with the airplane of another company by means of a “wet lease”. As of the 13th of April 2004, Flybaboo will be flying with an ATR 42-500 of 50 seats belonging to the Dutch airline company – Cimber Air- .
Confident and committed to succeed in its objectives, Flybaboo will continue to focus its efforts on the development of the Geneva – Venice connection, which is operating on a daily basis since the 29th of March 2004.
As of the 4th of June 2004, a connection from Geneva to Saint-Tropez La Mole will be activated.
The results of the young start-up are very encouraging. In fact, Flybaboo accounts for more than 55% occupancy rate on the connection Geneva – Lugano. Furthermore, for its first week of daily activity on the connection Geneva – Venice, the company has been accounting for more than 30% occupancy rate.
Flybaboo will be organizing a press conference after obtaining its AOC. The company is already looking forward to inviting the press for the inauguration flight of its own new plane.
